…a history of Pratts

Proudly Canadian, family-owned, and operated since 1910, The Pratts Group of Companies specializes in three distinct distribution segments: Food Service, Convenience, and Retail Grocery, with a legacy spanning over 100 years. The origins of The Pratts Group of Companies trace back to 1910 when it primarily served as a distributor of tobacco, confectionery, and dry goods to the Winnipeg grocery marketplace.

In 1980, Leonard Baranyk and his family acquired Pratts, building upon its legacy. Leonard, who had been with the company since 1967 under previous ownership, brought forth a vision that, combined with the dedication of employees and family members, transformed Pratts into the reputable organization it is today.

Over the years, the company has expanded its reach, establishing facilities across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario, to better serve its customers in the Food Service, Grocery Retail, Convenience, and Hospitality industries. From Ontario to regions across western Canada, Pratts continues to excel in distribution, driven by its commitment to superior selection, technology, supply, and service.
